Yep that's how long I've been working
And yes I know its not as long as some of who has reached half a decade
Or a decade or 3 years or whatever


However this is not my first job
And I'm proud to say that I'm definitely not some rich asshole
Who just bum around the house during the holidays..
I've started working as early as 16 years old (I know some of you did it even younger)
Then 18, 19, 20 and finally this year...

I've gone through fairs, office jobs, promoters
I think it is just fair that I should be able to say
That I have pretty much done 50% of the odd jobs if not 70%
(minus the street sweeper, waiter and etc etc)


Now on to what I've learnt
When someone comes to you and say

"Son, find a job that you love to do, 'cuz you'll be doing it for the rest of your life"

He is probably 99.99% right..
So take heed.. -____________-
Suffice to say I do not really enjoy what I'm doing
And TBH, I'll be damned if I have to go through this for the rest of my working career
So no way...

No I'm not a spoilt brat
Don't tell me you love manual jobs?
If you do.. then God bless your merry little hearts
But if you love manual jobs then I love the opposite

I love jobs which are challenging in nature
That I have to actually use my God given brains to tackle
I love jobs which requires you to think
To be able to adapt to different situation instead of going by the book
*What did I just hear my mum snicker?

Truth be told, if I can do something which I do not like half halfheartedly
And yet be able to complete it and to be able to get it as near to perfection as possible
I wonder what I can do if I put my heart and soul into it

TBH, I still haven't got a clue what I want to do in the future
As I've said, anything goes as long as I like it and if the pay is decent
I'll do it.
Of course till I get a degree, I can't really complain
But when I DO get my degree
*Which I eventually will, hopefully (wtf am I saying? I MUST!)
Then that's when I have to weigh my options

Working has taught me that almost every other thing uses common senses
Your common senses are free.. Use them!
However, the problem appears when you've lost touch of something

It could be the big boss who has loss touch with his roots
It could be that superior who has forgotten what it was like to be in your shoes
And God forbid, I should ever loose touch with the ground
That is why I'm writing this
To remind myself what it is like to be on the ground
What your workers actually feel when you make a simple decision
That decision affects them!
Think before you decide!

Managing uses lots of common sense
Your workers are like your engine
You can be a sleek looking sports car
But without your engines, You're going no where brother!
Your decision affects them
To press the accelerator (make decisions) is easy
But your engine is tearing apart (workers overworked)
Without proper maintenance (rewards/promotions/incentives etc)
Your engine will wear out (workers will leave)

So it's just as I've said
It's simple common sense
(of course there are other factors)
Such as the god damned air conditioners (Board of directors)
Which sometimes loves to throw a hammer in to your works every once in a while
But solving them is easy if you know how

Note that I do not read books on managing
Neither do I attend courses on it
And I sure as hell do not have a degree in Management or relating to it
I damn sure have not studied it
It's common sense
And while my example is an over simplistic view
It is pretty much the basic framework..
Tell me I'm wrong
I'm willing to listen and be corrected


I'm telling this to my future self now
If I ever ever get myself into a managing position
With a bunch of guys under me
I must

1) Understand them
2) Give them chances to be who they are
3) Listen to them
4) Take time to get to know them
5) Honor your own promises to them
6) Manage them not control them
7) Allow creativity
8) Give credit where it is due
9) Discipline is a must but not to the point of torture
10) You get them to do things by having them do it voluntarily
11) One way or the other they will do it but the outcome depends mostly on how they were asked to do it
12) Be strict but not control freak
13) Value their opinions (they are smarter than you think)
14) Not everybody is motivated by money and perks

p/s -> if your worker is spending too much time in the toilet.. They're prolly sleepin' there

How do I know all this?
Simply because I'm also a worker at this very moment under someone else
And this is what I want as a worker

I always get my inspiration in the toilet

When work gives you hell
It's the toilet
When I'm tired and in need of a 5 minutes shut eye
It's the toilet
When I need to re-look and assess what I have achieved so far..
It's the toilet

No joke man..
It's a personal space =o
Whenever I'm too tired
I always go to the toilet cubicle in the office
Sit on the cover and take a quick wink
Really boosts me up

And whenever I feel I'm not accomplishing anything
I go to the toilet
Whip out my mobile phone
Look at the list of things I want to buy with my salary
And I get that extra "oomph" to do it




*only happens when I'm working though
On other days, I just can't bring myself to that "meditative" level
Thank god the toilets at Allianz are pretty clean lol

Oh well.. 8 more weeks to go...

I can't believe when I stop working
I'll only have 2 weeks left before I leave for UK
I have much plans for myself
Ain't gonna close down any doors just yet
Just open up as many possibilities as possible and see where it leads to

Many people will say I'm dreaming
I'm not realistic
So what?
I try my best
I see where it goes
Period

I know getting a job in the UK is hard
Especially during such times
I only hope that the Olympic Games in 2011 in Manchester will spur the economy
Hopefully...

My other plans includes bringing my family over..
I don't wanna leave them back in Malaysia

I'm not really that anxious for some reason
I did my best, I know what I answered
And hopefully my prediction is right

Tiffie is finally back with me
And she is giving me hell of a time keeping me busy!

Work is gonna change that
Gonna spend some cash on family and baby

I can't believe I'm gonna spend my last few months in Malaysia working

Exams are over..
And now I have to interview for a job
This world is really cruel
It just wouldn't work without cash =s
But anyhow..
Wish me luck..
Getting job means I can do so much more
Firstly, taking my family out for a good dinner
Bring Baby Girl eat nice food for her birthday
(psst- Her birthday falls on the 3rd of June)

After that i have to finance my new gears needed
Boss DS-1 Pedal (or maybe a multi-effect one)
Setup my guitar for a better smoother play
Maybe pay half for my guitar lessons instead of pushing it all on my mum?

Speaking of the classes
I can't wait to get started
I want to learn about the scales
How to play properly
(actually how to play like A7X and Slash =p)
Classes will start this Tuesday
And subsequently every Monday =D

And I can't wait for my UOL friends to finish exams...
Then we can all go out for a nice outing
And of course there's results day..
Hopefully I get what I expect

Just came back from the Melaka Trip with the Youth!
Went for a makan Trip on Sunday till Monday
A Whoping 9 meals in 24 Hours

The lawyer who interviewed me last week called me up today
He asked me if I already have a placement at another law firm
I told him no
And he asked me if i would like to work in his Law Firm
At the salary that I have requested (=
I told him yes
And now I finally have a work to do (=
Earn and save cash for Bangkok Trip as well as a new mobile phone XD
Of course.. There are experiences to learn (=

Sidenote..
Gonna be pretty damned busy.
I have to find out where to get an installer for my Windows version
Windows Vista Home Basic and reinstall and clean reformat my laptop
And have to do house chores..
That and coupled with the fact that I have a job now.
I have to call up the girl to tel her that I can't work in PC Fair now too
Ironic =p
I called up a laptop company and asked if they have any vacancies during the PC Fair.
And we agreed everything
Then the call came up @_@
And I have to call up Adam and Andrew.. (baby calls them Double A XD)
And change their tuition classes to Thursday night (=

I lost my Gold Chain )=
The Gold chain that was given to me by my late "po po"

Was finding for a job in a law firm today
And I called this lady at the law firm
Its a surprise that why all this firms are thinking that they are paying us to learn
She said something like this
"So, I'm actually paying you to learn?"
LoL true, you're paying me to learn
But you need help no?

Its time for them to shake off this mentality
Truth be told,
In developed countries (yes I'm not counting Malaysia as developed)
They definitely can't give us shit pay definitely
There would be minimum wages

So yeah, I requested for a basic of RM 800-1k
Hey Joon Wye managed to get 1k salary k-.-
Don't ask me how he did it..
He probably pointed a gun at the senior associate's head -_-

Minimum wages is the way to go
But then again, that will create a host of other social problems..
Its all Economics and Business Studies..
LoL, this two subjects still teaches
I am glad I took them

Well I've been missing for quite abit eh?

I was missing from Friday (Good Friday) till Sunday (Easter)
Sigh..
All this due to work
At least I managed to go to church..

As said in previous post
I was working for Olympus at the Pikom PC Fair at KLCC
And all I can say is..
It was helluva tiring...
The last time I stood that long was when I was 15
Hehe yeah.. I worked when I was 15.. (Illegally =p)
But it was good training for my legs lalala
Getting fatter so some work will do me good...
Made lotsa new friends at work
Managed to sell almost 20 (minimum) to 25 (optimistically) digital cameras
So the commission also not bad lar..
I have high hopes for my pay..
But I'll wait and see whats in my Bank Account lol
Have much plans for the cash
Don't worry..
I won't use it all just yet..

It was really fun to be working again for abit..
Kinda takes the pressure of studying for a looming examination
But now its back to reality..
Time to double up the effort @_@
And Start Studying Harder Now..

Ja~ Its getting late..
